| December 1960 First prominent with Gene Krupa and with Miles Davis' Nonet, Gerry Mulligan born in New York city 4/6/27 is a major contributor in the evolution of modern jazz. Best known for the pianoless quartet he organized in California In 1952. He has since led many similar small groups and his famous thirteen-piece concert jazz band. Mulligan has retained the esteem of jazz fans everywhere as an Instrumentalist / arranger / composer generally showing a fare enthusiasm and communication with his audiences. |
